Play and Office of Collective Play \\\ *Office of Collective Play

The Office of Collective Play is conceived as a means for programming to operate outside of the exhibition space at CCAD. The concept and action are part of an interest in looking at the influence of the institution in relation to artistic practices that do not usually make work for gallery environments. The concept of play was important to the theories of Guy Debord and Henri Lefebvre who were inspired by Homo Ludens: A Study of the Play Element in Culture by Johan Huizinga, first published in 1938. In relation to Descent to Revolution, the OCP will make an overarching look at the value of play in our culture.
