Tercerunquinto made two proposals for their work this fall. With the work It Was Built to Fail, the collective proposes to make an inscription of a quote by Columbus Mayor Mike Coleman about the now-defunct downtown retail mall Columbus City Center on the exterior walls of that building. Constructed in 1989 (opening 20 years ago today), the 1.2 million square-foot space lies vacant while its fate is determined. It Was Built to Fail addresses, among other topics, the rapid transformation of the urban infrastructure in Columbus. We are currently investigating the feasibility of this proposed project.
